Osasuna drew Athletic Club 1-1 on Tuesday, and it was enough to secure a spot in this season’s Copa del Rey final (2-1 on aggregate).

Fans were treated to a thriller inside a rocking San Mamés atmosphere mid-week as a nervy clash between Athletic Club and Osasuna went all the way.

The visitors held a slim 1-0 advantage from the first leg and knew scoring first would be vital.

But any game plan Osasuna had went out the window after half an hour when Athletic Club’s beloved striker Iñaki Williams acrobatically redirected a ball home to pull level on aggregate.

And after opening the scoring, the hosts piled the pressure thanks to the support of the home fans’ cheers, only for the visitors to hold on by the skin of their teeth.

Despite 23 shots to six, the match somehow went to extra time where after another frantic 30 minutes, it seemed as though the match would go to penalties.

That was until substitute Pablo Ibáñez scored his first ever club goal with less than four minutes to go and sent the visitors through against all odds.

Osasuna will now face either Barcelona or Real Madrid in only their second-ever Copa del Rey final.
