Stefan Ortega Moreno says Manchester City are ‘the whole package’.

The experienced German bolsters City’s goalkeeping options and becomes the second signing of the summer after agreeing a three-year deal, subject to international clearance.

And after more than a decade in German football with Arminia Bielefeld and 1860 Munich, Ortega Moreno says coming to England was, ultimately, an easy decision.

“For me, it was the opportunity to join one of the biggest clubs in the world,” he said.

“Also, it is a chance to experience a new country, a new culture, and the best league in the world.

“The whole package was perfect for me. I needed a lot of time to think about it because it is a huge step, but now I am very happy to be a part of a club like Manchester City.

“I am ambitious enough to show my best performances and push my teammates to be the best in this team.

“I am looking forward to working with the guys, the coaches, with the goalkeeper coach Xabi Mancisidor and also with the goalkeeping team. I am really happy.”

Ortega Moreno is particularly looking forward to working with Ederson in the coming weeks and months and admits he has enjoyed watching him play over the past few years.

“I have watched him a lot of times in the Premier League and the Champions League,” he revealed.

“He has one or two assists with the long ball and that is one of the things I like about goalkeepers, when they have a really good long ball.

“He is a very good goalkeeper.”

Ortega Moreno’s former club Arminia were relegated from the Bundesliga last season, and he admits that playing for a club challenging for major silverware will be a welcome change and a positive shift in mentality.

“I think the last two years I played to avoid relegation from the Bundesliga, so it is totally new for me to play for a title in the Premier League, also in the Champions League, the FA Cup and the League Cup,” he said.

“It is really interesting, but I am looking forward to it and I am ready.”
