Liverpool are working to complete the signing of Federico Chiesa before the transfer market shuts. According to David Ornstein in The Athletic, the Reds have been admirers of Chiesa for some time and are now pushing forward with negotiations to bring the Juventus star to Anfield. This move comes as no surprise to many, given the club’s need to reinforce their attacking options ahead of a busy season.
Liverpool have reportedly admired Chiesa for several years, and with his contract at Juventus expiring in 2025, the timing seems perfect for a move. As Ornstein reports, “Liverpool decided to capitalise on the situation and are discussing a possible four-year contract.” This potential deal is being viewed as a savvy piece of business, especially considering that the Italian international is available for around €15 million—a figure that represents excellent value for a player of his calibre.
Federico Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020, initially on loan before the deal was made permanent for €50 million. Despite suffering a significant ACL injury in January 2022, Chiesa bounced back last season, making 37 appearances and scoring 10 goals across all competitions. His performances for Juventus and the Italian national team have continued to showcase his abilities, making him an attractive prospect for Liverpool.
Chiesa is known for his pace, dribbling, and ability to score crucial goals, traits that Liverpool could use to bolster their attack. His experience at the highest level, including starring in Italy’s Euro 2021-winning campaign, adds to his appeal. With Liverpool already securing wins in their opening Premier League fixtures, Chiesa’s addition could make them even more formidable.
The prospect of bringing in Federico Chiesa is undoubtedly exciting. For years, we’ve watched him light up Serie A and the international stage with his explosive pace and eye for goal. Seeing him in a red shirt would feel like the missing piece to our attacking puzzle.
Chiesa’s arrival would not only add depth but also bring a different dimension to our forward line. His versatility allows him to play across the front three, which could be invaluable in Arne Slot’s fluid attacking system. And let’s not forget, his knack for scoring in big games could prove decisive in our pursuit of silverware.
At €15 million, this deal feels like a steal. Given today’s inflated market, securing a player of Chiesa’s quality at that price is a masterstroke. It’s also a statement of intent—Liverpool are not just here to compete; we’re here to win.
With our next game against Manchester United on the horizon, the buzz around Anfield is palpable. If we can get this deal over the line, it could be the catalyst for a special season. Here’s hoping we see Federico Chiesa celebrating in front of the Kop very soon.
