David Ornstein writes in The Athletic that a number of teams in England and Italy are considering a move for Daley Blind in the summer. He names Arsenal specifically, and we all know they’ve been in for left-sided centre-backs recently.

The Gunners signed Pablo Mari in January, but only on an initial loan deal. There is a good chance they’ll activate their option to make it permanent in the summer. Still, the club need to prepare other targets in case they do send Mari back to Flamengo.

Blind returned to the pitch with Ajax this week after heart surgery. Like Arsenal, he’s now preparing for a Europa League knockout tie. Ajax face Getafe after dropping down from the Champions League, and you can check out Europa League odds with 888.

Blind actually almost joined Arsenal as a young player. He visited the club’s facilities, and they offered him a contract. In the end, Blind decided to stay with Ajax to follow in his father’s footsteps.

At 29 years old, with a mixed Premier League spell at Manchester United behind him, it would be a surprise to see Arsenal signing the Ajax defender.

Given the low cost, experience in England and his ability to play on the left or in midfield though, it’s not impossible.
