Ornstein: ‘Amorim is very fond’ – Utd confirmed to be mulling over move for £65m-rated PL bagsman | OneFootball

Bournemouth chiefs are bracing themselves for a summer of substantial transfer interest in some of their key men – including the manager.

Indeed, Dean Huijsen, Milos Kerkez, and Antoine Semenyo are all being heavily linked with moves away from the Vitality Stadium following stellar seasons in their respective roles for the Cherries. Andoni Iraola, who is well in the mix to be considered the Manager of the Season, is also being targeted by Tottenham Hotspur amid Ange Postecoglou’s uncertain future.

Preparing for a pivotal overhaul when the window opens, Manchester United are keeping tabs on one Bournemouth star’s situation in the form of prolific forward Semenyo.

The 25-year-old has notched a notable 10 goals and six assists in all competitions, including eight goals and five assists in the Premier League alone. He’s averaged a Sofascore rating of 7.13 across his appearances thus far, making it no surprise he’s being targeted by a host of teams leading into the window.

Whether United will come out on top – or even formally ignite their pursuit – remains to be seen, but it certainly wouldn’t go amiss to have a player of Semenyo’s calibre at Ruben Amorim’s disposal in 2025/2026.

His unrelenting work rate and versatility in the frontline would make him a worthy addition to any top-flight squad – and Bournemouth are well aware of that, hence expecting a club-record transfer fee if the Ghanaian is to leave upon the culmination of the campaign.

David Ornstein confirmed United’s interest in Semenyo on NBC Sports before detailing the Cherries’ stance on offloading their most productive talisman.

“What a season he has had,” the transfer expert said of Semenyo. “A player that Manchester United manager, Ruben Amorim, is very fond of. Now, they would be looking to sell him for a fee in excess of what they got for Dominic Solanke, which was £65 million because there’s no release clause – they would want a club record. I don’t think both he and Kerkez will go after Huijsen, so it’s maybe two of the three.”
