Orlando City have signed midfielder Dagur Dan Thórhallsson from Icelandic top-flight side Breidablik. He joins on a two-year contract through the 2024 Major League Soccer season with club options in 2025 and 2026, pending receipt of his P-1 Visa and ITC.

"Dagur Dan is a versatile player that can play both in the midfield for us, out on the wings or even at right back if we need and he’s been involved with Iceland’s national team program since his days with the U16s,” Luiz Muzzi, Orlando's EVP of soccer operations and general manager, said in a release.

"He has a great engine and fits the profile of a box-to-box player that can give us strength in both our attack and defense."

The midfielder stands as a product of Haukar Hafnarfjördur’s academy, working through the system before reaching the first team in 2016. He saw loan spells at KAA Gent (Belgium), Keflavík ÍF (Iceland) and Mjøndalen IF (Norway), prior to joining Breiðablik at the beginning of 2022. Overall, Thórhallsson has managed 18 goals and 11 assists in 118 matches.

Internationally, the midfielder has recorded four appearances for the Icelandic team since making his debut on November 6, 2022 in a friendly against Saudi Arabia.

The midfielder stands among the long list of reinforcements for Orlando City ahead of the 2023 season, joining DP winger Martín Ojeda, U22 Initiative winger Ramiro Enrique, and left back Rafael Santos. The team also brought back star goalkeeper Pedro Gallese and captain Mauricio Pereyra on new deals.

Orlando City kicks off the 2023 MLS campaign on February 25 when hosting the New York Red Bulls.
