Orlando City have re-signed back-up goalkeeper Adam Grinwis for the 2023 MLS season, the club announced Wednesday.

Grinwis returns on a one-year contract, with no option on further seasons announced.

“We are very happy to have Adam continue as part of our project here in Orlando,” Orlando executive vice president of soccer operations and general manager Luiz Muzzi said in a club press release.

“He is an important piece for us both on the field and in the locker room and we look forward to having him back in 2023.”

Grinwis has made 11 senior appearances for the Lions across two spells, originally playing for them between 2018 and 2019, before rejoining in July 2021 following a stay with the Sacramento Republic.

The 30-year-old as part of a two-man deputy line-up behind first-choice goalkeeper Pedro Gallese, though the Peru international is currently out of contract and would represent an upgrade between the sticks for a number of MLS clubs.

Orlando City are preparing for their Concacaf Champions League debut after winning the 2022 US Open Cup, while the Floridian side made the MLS Cup Playoffs for the third year running, though they exited at the first-round stage with a 2-0 defeat to CF Montreal.
