Jed Kaplan, the chief executive of gaming organisation Simplicity Esports, has added Orlando City SC to his portfolio of sports investments, acquiring a minority stake in the Major League Soccer (MLS) franchise, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.
The veteran sports executive, who is also a minority owner of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Memphis Grizzlies and English second-tier soccer club Swansea City, announced the acquisition via his Twitter account. The terms of Kaplan's acquisition were not disclosed.
Kaplan, whose esports company operates Brazilian top-flight soccer club Flamengo's esports team, joins majority shareholder Augusto da Silva, a Brazilian entrepreneur, who chairs the board at the Florida-based outfit.
