Championship side AFC Bournemouth have submitted an enquiry for Manchester City midfielder Tommy Doyle ahead of a potential move during the summer transfer window, according to a report from Wales Online.

The 20-year-old has been an integral asset to current loan side Cardiff City since his arrival in the Welsh capital back in January, establishing himself as one of the first names on the teamsheet for Steve Morison’s side and shining in the second tier.

In fact, he has managed to record two goals and three assists in 17 league appearances for the Bluebirds – an admirable total and one he will be looking to build on in the last two games as he continues to be a threat going forward.

It could even be argued that he’s been unlucky not to have recorded more goal contributions, making a superb run forward and supplying a decent opportunity for Isaak Davies against Luton Town earlier this month.

This burst forward against the Hatters just goes to show how much of an asset he can be going forward, also contributing defensively, though it’s his work going forward that has provided the most excitement.

And he would certainly be an exciting addition for the Cherries, coming to the Vitality Stadium as another goal contributor alongside the likes of Philip Billing and Ryan Christie in midfield.

Having those players could be vital for Scott Parker’s men in their bid to remain afloat in the Premier League if they are promoted at the end of this term because although Dominic Solanke has stepped up to the plate again this season, he is more of a proven player in the second tier than in the top flight.

If that pressure can be lifted off Solanke’s shoulders, that should enable the ex-Liverpool man to perform to his maximum and that will only go on to help the south-coast side further.

They may not have been in the best form in the past few months – but these attack-minded players would provide the Cherries with real hope that they can remain in the division – so Doyle could be a key figure in ensuring they remain in the top tier during 2022/23.

At 20, the midfielder has plenty of time to develop but if he wants to fulfil his potential as a Man City player, he will want to take the step up to the top tier as soon as possible and this is why a move to Bournemouth may be a fruitful one.

However, game time is the most important thing and if Parker’s side can’t guarantee him plenty of minutes on the pitch in the top tier, he should return to the Bluebirds where he will be in safe hands under the stewardship of current boss Morison.
