Opinion: The Celtic Board are now in the Last Chance Saloon | OneFootball

For 8 long years we lauded our successes, let’s face it we didn’t have to spend vast amounts of money to stay ahead of the pack. Our financial muscle bolstered by sold out season books, big sponsorship deals, a transfer policy that worked and brought in tens and tens of millions coupled with the chasing packs financial restraints gave us success we hadn’t known for generations.

Now we can’t complete a deal without it being leaked to the press, when they’re in negotiations they always low ball the offers. Not the mentality of a “big club”.  The present incumbents haven’t just tarnished our reputation on the park they’ve tarnished it in board rooms across the continent.

In the space of 16 short months we’ve fallen apart in a way few of us could ever have foreseen. We had a lawful financial advantage over our rivals that should have seen us light ahead of our near neighbours and yet last night was just the latest in a long line of abject failures this board has presided over.

This period has put the board under intense scrutiny and it’s failed spectacularly. A dereliction of duty, years of panicked loan deals, last minute panic buys and so many failed project buys/signings have landed firmly at their front door.

The support will rightly give Ange Postecoglu the time he deserves although to be brutally honest I’m not convinced the board will. He may end up being  another scapegoat for these people who’s only forward planning is the end of season bank balance.

This Celtic board now more than ever need to show the support they deserve to be given one last chance to turn this around. The Celtic support will be waiting and watching… The timer is on and the clock is ticking…. Loudly.
