Liverpool have signed some quality players in recent times.

With that being the case, the writers at Anfield Watch have decided to give their opinion on who is the club's greatest ever signing during the Premier League era.

All we will say is that it wasn't an easy task.

Lachlan Ballingall - Luis Suarez

Suarez arrived at Liverpool from Ajax for a transfer fee of £23.85 million back in January 2011.

The forward was a decent player on the eye before he signed with the Reds. In saying that, there is no denying that he went to another level at Anfield.

Suarez only made 133 appearances for Liverpool's first-team, But, wow, what an impact he made! The Uruguayan scored 82 goals and registered 46 assists in 133 appearances.

Suarez almost single-handedly won Liverpool the 2013-14 Premier League title. He found the back of the net 31 times and secured 17 assists in 33 appearances.

However, Manchester City beat the Reds to the title by two points.

Suarez could do things that others couldn't. He was just a joy to watch. At times, he made me laugh with his trickery. Suarez was also prepared to put in the 'dirty work'. He was a complete player for Liverpool.

It was a shame that Suarez did not represent the Reds for a little bit longer. He only won the League Cup during his time at Anfield.

But, on pure talent, Suarez is the best player I have seen represent the club during the Premier League era.

Back in the summer of 2014, he departed Liverpool and joined Barcelona for a transfer fee of £73.55 million.

Suarez then linked up with Atletico Madrid. However, the 35-year-old is currently without a team.

Charlie Webb - Alisson

Liverpool have had a lot of great signings over the years, but some have made a bigger impact than most.

It would be very easy to put the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and others at the top of the list,  but I feel that my choice has been revolutionary to Liverpool’s history.

Alisson Becker. Yes, Roma demanded £56 million back in the summer of 2018 for the Brazilian, but he has been worth every penny.

During the early years of the Jurgen Klopp era, the one player we always lacked was a world-class goalkeeper.

Simon Mignolet was never the best and Loris Karius had a disasterclass in him.

When Karius basically gave Real Madrid the Champions League in 2018, he needed to be replaced and that’s exactly what Klopp and FSG did.

They paid the money to Roma and signed their Brazilian 'keeper Alisson.

The previous season we scored nine goals against him in two games during the semi-finals of the Champions League, but he would never let that happen again once he joined the Reds.

Since arriving, Alisson had guided us to every trophy and he has been a key reason why we’re back at the top.

Yes, he has a nervy moment in him every now and then, but it’s worth it because we have the best shot-stopper in the world.

He is by far the best 1v1 goalkeeper in the world and probably one of the best to ever play the game.

The Brazilian will definitely go down as one of the finest, if not the finest, Liverpool 'keeper’s of all-time.

And for that reason, he is my best signing of the Premier League era. But, it certainly wasn't easy picking one player.
