Burnley are one of the most impressive Championship sides of the last several years.

Vincent Kompany arrived in the summer with a set style of play and worked hard on overhauling the squad to better fit that.

It has all paid off handsomely with the club now looking set to earn promotion straight back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

It has been a radical shift from the heady days of Sean Dyche, but the transformation has been impressive nonetheless.

With the prospect of top flight football on the horizon, Kompany will be preparing for the many challenges ahead.

That will begin with how the club intends to act going into the summer transfer window.

One key aspect that the Clarets must immediately turn their focus to will be on securing the permanent signing of their loan stars.

This Burnley side has been built on its temporary players, with the backline in particular making up three defenders who might not be at Turf Moor next season.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Jordan Beyer and Ian Maatsen have been some of the best players in the league in their respective positions.

Losing them all would be a huge blow and require a big outlay in the transfer market to replace.

Players have already come in, such as Hjalmar Ekdal and Ameen Al-Dakhil, to take up a role in the squad.

Ekdal could prove to be a replacement for Harwood-Bellis, and the Manchester City starlet’s injury gives the Swede a chance to prove himself over the coming weeks.

But the partnership that Beyer and Harwood-Bellis share would be a shame to break up from a Burnley perspective.

Maatsen could be a very attainable target this summer and should be considered a big priority.

It is likely Chelsea will be looking to recuperate some funds following their huge spending in the last couple of windows, so being open to a sale would make a lot of sense from their perspective.

Meanwhile, Nathan Tella has proven a very bright addition to the attack since arriving from Southampton.

Given the Saints may be going the other direction next season, this should also be a realistic transfer target for the Lancashire club.

Harwood-Bellis and Beyer may prove more difficult to extract, but the ability to offer regular game time at Premier League level may prove very alluring to the defenders, so this will give them a chance at signing the pair on a permanent basis.
