Tielemans has been linked with a move to Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United

According to Sky Sports (h/t Mirror), Liverpool transfer target Youri Tielemans is open to making a move away from Leicester City in the upcoming transfer windows. Premier League clubs Liverpool and Manchester United are linked with the player after a successful spell with the Foxes.

The 24-year old midfielder has a successful spell with Leicester City last season. The midfielder, in his 51 appearances in all competition last season, scored 9 goals and provided 6 assists to his team. He also scored the stunning goal in FA Cup Final against Chelsea last season securing the FA Cup for the first-ever time for the Foxes.

Youri Tielemans scored the winner in the FA Cup Finals last season.

Tielemans was also awarded the club’s Player of the Year award. With Leicester City failing to qualify for the Champions League, the player might be on the lookout for a different challenge with a major Premier League club. When asked to give an update about his future the player said:

“There’s no update really. I’m open to everything. The transfer market has just closed, but I want to keep as many options as I can open.“As long as I’m here I will give everything for the club. I’ve already done so, but I will do so even more. The contract situation is just something that is going on in football, it’s a normal situation.”

The Belgian midfielder has a contract up until 2023, and the Foxes are in talks with the players representative in order to sign him on a new deal. However, it will be interesting to see whether the player joins either of the Premier League clubs or remains focused at the club.

Tielemans is in the last year of his contract which expires in 2023.

“There are talks going on- I’m not saying I’m going to sign, I’m not saying I’m not going to sign. We will see.”

Liverpool saw Gini Wijaldum depart this summer to PSG and the club did not sign a direct replacement for him in the summer. Given the situation, with Tielemans it could be a good bargain for the Reds given the player is in the last year of his contract.
