After another exciting weekend of action across the continent, it is time to put together our best XI from Europe’s top five leagues.
The Augsburg shot-stopper set a new Bundesliga saves record for the season with his 10 against Köln on the road securing a point for his side in a 1-1 draw.
Already one of the world’s best attacking full-backs, the Moroccan is getting even better under Luis Enrique and showed it again with another all-action outing on Friday night to celebrate his birthday weekend in style. His improvement is a scary prospect.
With little fuss, the 19-year-old has become a mainstay at the heart of the Valencia defence this season. It is clear why Colombia recently made moves to get him to declare for them at international level but that rejection looks set to be Spain’s gain if he continues on this rapid trajectory.
The kind of showing that perfectly demonstrates the Bianconeri’s new-found defence-first approach this season that is seeing them thrive. He marshalled things perfectly at the heart of a back three in Tuscany as Juve overcame Fiorentina 1-0 for their sixth straight clean sheet.
Two more goals in the weekend win over Hoffenheim added to his stunning stats for this season, taking his tally to seven goals and five assists in 15 games, numbers that any attacking player would be proud of let alone a left-back. A first Spain call-up surely beckons.
The Frenchman at times occupied more of a central attacking role in PSG’s win over Montpellier but had to find his way into the side as he is playing with great confidence under Luis Enrique and justifying the reports last week that he has already became a leader in the dressing room.
Is there a more reliable penalty taker when the pressure is on than the Inter midfielder? Since the start of 2017, he has scored every penalty that he has attempted in Serie A and did so again with another crucial striker to cap off a fine showing against Atalanta, while also equalling Sükrü Gülesin as the Italian top flight’s top-scoring Turk with 36 goals.
The Russian’s fifth goal of the season secured another win and once more, it was another wonderful finish. “He’s exceptional, he can run for 90 minutes without stopping,” coach Adi Hütter said of his star man afterwards. “We need him. He’s fantastic, a beautiful, creative player. He can still do better but he’s one of the best players in the league.”
Pep Guardiola’s side’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth was all about the electrifying Belgian, who contributed to all but one of the goals by scoring once and providing four assists. He is the youngest player in Premier League history to achieve that feat and only the eighth player to do so, while becoming the first City man to do so.
Girona’s incredible start to the season continued as they assumed ownership of top spot in LaLiga after a 4-2 win, inspired by Dovbyk’s brace against Osasuna. Only one player has more than his 10 combined goals and assists this season for the division’s surprise package.
What a start to life in Germany. Kane was at it again in the calendar’s biggest fixture as he scored three times in Dortmund to help his side to victory. It was the 11th league hat-trick of his career and incredibly, three of those have came in his first few months in the Bundesliga.
