OneFootball¡24 December 2023
Itâs the most wonderful time of the year and almost time to find out who has been naughty and who has been nice.
Christmas is the season of giving, and hereâs what our writers have at the top of their wishlist for Santa.
Let us know in the comments what YOU are hoping for this year.
Having been unsuccessful the first time around, Iâm wishing for some tickets from UEFA in the next round of the Euro 2024 ticket ballot. Nothing screams summer like an international tournament and I am absolutely desperate to get to a few games in Germany. That doesnât feel like too much to ask?
Itâs been two year since my beloved Portland Timbers have made the playoffs in Major League Soccer. My wish for Christmas is the club gets its act together in the winter transfer window and gets the team back where it belongs, challenging at the top!
Christmas and video games have always gone hand in hand for me, but Iâve been playing EA Sports FC 24 for months and I really wish there was another football sim out there for me to try. With the Pro Evolution Soccer franchise effectively dead, Iâm hoping someone comes along and properly challenges EAâs crown in 2024. If not, I might have to get back into Subbuteo.
In the absence of Michael Laudrupâs autograph, Iâd settle for curbing the increased added time at the end of each half.
It was a novelty seeing 10-15 minutes flashed up during the last World Cup but is undoubtedly contributing to a spike in injuries that dilutes contests.
All I want for Christmas is Manchester United to be 25% owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS, as well as all âsporting controlâ to be taken away from the Glazers.
Itâs obvious to all but the ignorant that nothing will change at Old Trafford until there is actual change, and this could be the first step to a brighter future. Or, at least, provide a bit of hope after a decade in the wilderness.
After being spoilt earlier on in the year when West Ham won the Europa Conference League, ending our 40 year trophy drought, I now have unfortunately acquired a taste for silverwareâŚ
So my Christmas wishlist consists of the mighty Hammers winning another trophy. It can be the FA Cup or the Europa League â Iâm not fussy!
If anyone out there knows where to get their hands on a 1985/86 Oxford United shirt with the infamous âWangâ sponsor, please leave a comment.
Oh and ideally it needs to cost less than remortgaging. Cheers.
The big thing Iâll be hoping for this Christmas is that each and every Scotland player in Steve Clarkeâs plans for Euro 2024 gets through the festive period and the six months after it unscathed. The likes of John McGinn, Scott McTominay and Kieran Tierney need to be wrapped in as much cotton wool as the north pole provides.
Iâm an avid kit collector, but thereâs one that has escaped me for some time. Real Madridâs long-sleeve home shirt from 2016-17 with Cristiano Ronaldo on the back.
