Football is back! Well, unless you watch Ligue 1.
But with the rest of Europe’s major leagues back in action, it’s time to bring back our Power Rankings.
Looking at post-lockdown results only, who are the hottest teams in Europe right now?
Liverpool’s return, a 0-0 draw against Everton, was a little underwhelming. That’s why they’re only in ninth.
But they are still here, and they’re here because of the way they tore Crystal Palace to pieces on Wednesday. Champions elect, but not for much longer.
Adama Traoré can’t be stopped, Raúl Jiménez can’t be stopped, and even if they could, nobody can score against Wolves anyway. Nuno Espírito Santo’s men look better than they’ve looked all season with Willy Boly back in defence.
Can you faintly hear the Champions League music playing?
What a strong return to action Napoli have made under Rino Gattuso. Draws with Inter and Juventus saw them reach the Coppa Italia final, and then clinch the trophy on penalties.
They’ve since made their Serie A comeback with a comfortable 2-0 win and are outside shouts for a top four spot.
Don’t count them out.
A disappointing defeat to Mainz after Bayern Munich sealed the Bundesliga title, but they hit back in style to beat Leipzig away from home with Achraf Hakimi (suspended) and Jadon Sancho (benched) both watching on.
With four wins from their last five, we couldn’t ignore them.
Everyone wants to talk about how Barcelona aren’t really firing. Yet here they are, 10 points from a possible 12 since returning, and no goals conceded.
They may not have been entirely convincing, but a record like has to be appreciated.
LaLiga left off with Atlético in sixth, worried about Champions League football for next season. Fast-forward four games and they’re sitting pretty in third.
João Félix has come to life, Diego Costa has started scoring, and, obviously, they’ve not conceded in their last three games. With 10 points from four matches, they just had to be here.
Two games, two wins, eight goals and zero conceded. It’s just too easy for City sometimes.
Pep Guardiola rotated a lot after the win over Arsenal but his team were just as dominant against Burnley.
The best team in Europe? Maybe not. The best to watch? Absolutely. The Champions League quarter-finalists have picked up where they left off: having fun and scoring goals.
First they swept Sassuolo aside in a 4-1 win, then they became the first team to beat title challengers Lazio in nine months with an exhilarating 3-2 victory on Wednesday. Don’t blink or you’ll miss them.
Real Madrid are back in LaLiga action and they are on fire.
Their 10 goals in three games have been scored by six different goalscorers, with Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos netting three for themselves. With four wins on the bounce, they’ve gone top of the table and must be LaLiga favourites right now.
Who else? Bayern Munich are the best team on the planet right now. In case you’re not convinced, they’ve played nine games since football returned in Germany, and they’ve won all nine of them, conceding just seven goals and scoring 25 in the process.
They’ve sealed the Bundesliga title and could make it a double in under two weeks. Don’t bet against it.
