Championship side Millwall are preparing an offer to sign Burton Albion striker Victor Adeboyejo according to a report from Football Insider.

The 25-year-old seems to have finally got settled in his football career as he has managed to find the net 13 times in 34 appearances for Burton. That form at the Brewers firstly caught the attention of Wigan Athletic, as the Championship side began talks with Burton over a possible deal.

This is the strikers best goal scoring return in his football career to date, with his highest return before this season being three at Barnsley.

It’s been reported that Adeboyejo has a buyout clause in his contract that many teams are now interested in activating.

Wigan are said to be still leading the race for the striker but now face stiff competition to secure the 25-year-old’s signature.

Millwall are now believed to have entered the race as Gary Rowett looks to add more threat to his attacking options at the Championship club.

Here at FLW, we have looked at one winner and one loser at Millwall should the club seal a move for Adeboyejo this month…

If Millwall can get this deal over the line, then one player who could potentially benefit from this type of signing is Zian Flemming.

The Dutchman is the Lions’ leading goal scorer at present and has at times this season carried Rowett’s side as they have picked up vital wins. The 24-year-old has played in all but three games in the league this season and has so far managed to notch 10 goals.

So, if Millwall were able to bring Adeboyejo through the door this month, then Flemming would more than likely benefit from this type of signing.

Flemming operates as a number 10 in this Millwall side, meaning Adeboyejo would likely come in and operate as the sole striker in the team. This would mean Flemming could be playing off a striker that is bang in form, and if he can come to The Den and replicate his form, then Millwall will have attackers who would cause any defence a problem.

Of course, there may be many who think there’s no guarantee that Adeboyejo can come to Millwall and back into the Championship and continue his impressive form, but if he can, then this would take a huge weight off Flemming’s shoulders as he wouldn’t be the only source of goals for this team.

REAL FAKE

Loser: Tom Bradshaw

Tom Bradshaw has become a regular starter at Millwall this season, but the potential of a new signing by the name of Adeboyejo could change that.

The 30-year-old has started 20 of the 22 games that he has played in the Championship, and in those games, he has managed to grab seven goals and provide two assists.

If Adeboyejo were to sign for the Lions this month, then not to say that Bradshaw would immediately lose his place, but you would have to think it would come under serve jeopardy, considering the form that Adeboyejo has been in this season.

Bradshaw has always been liked by Rowett as he is a player who can link up the play, work hard at the top end of the pitch, and despite his height, has a good presence about him. However, his goals have dried up recently, and this will be a concern.

This is where a new signing like the Burton man could place Bradshaw’s position in the team in doubt. However, Adeboyejo’s arrival could mean competition goes up some more, and it would be interesting to see how it pans out if Millwall were to sign the 25-year-old this month.
