Bristol City have submitted an offer to sign Luton Town striker Harry Cornick, according to a report from Football Insider.

The Robins are in the market for a new striker in these remaining days of the transfer window, as it looks as though Antoine Semenyo is set to join Premier League side AFC Bournemouth.

However, they may face competition as the same report also states that Championship rivals Swansea City have made an offer for the Hatters man.

While Swansea are interested in Cornick, a report from Bristol Live has stated that Bristol City remain the front runners to sign the 27-year-old.

Here at FLW, we have looked at one winner and one loser at Bristol City should the club swoop for Harry Cornick this month…

Winner: Tommy Conway

If the Robins manage to get a deal over the line for Cornick, then you would have to suggest that young striker Tommy Conway could be a winner from this deal.

The 20-year-old came onto the scene at Ashton Gate last season, but it is this campaign where the striker has really come into his own and earned himself a regular spot in the starting XI.

Conway has six goals in 26 appearances in the league, and with the addition of Cornick, things could get better for Conway.

Cornick is a hard-working type of striker that likes to do a lot of the dirty work, and if he were to join the Robins, you would expect him to feature regularly and be one of the main players in attack.

Therefore, this could help Conway, as Cornick is an energetic attacker who would be able to take some of the pressure off the 20-year-old’s shoulders.

Despite still being very raw, this season Conway has been heavily relied upon at City, with other strikers failing to step up and with the departure of Semenyo looking imminent, Cornick possibly coming in surely helps Conway.

The Robins have been a side that hasn’t done too well in terms of goals this season, so the addition of a new striker will definitely help players like Conway.

True False

Loser: Chris Martin

The potential arrival of Cornick could spell the end of Chris Martin’s career at Ashton Gate.

The Scottish striker has only appeared 17 times in the league this season, and apart from starting the first three games of the season, the 34-year-old has failed to start a game since.

His role this season has seen him be a substitute who appears off the bench in late cameos. While in the last nine games his game time has been non-existent, with him only playing eight minutes and then failing to make the matchday squad for the last five games.

At his age, he isn’t going to play as much as other players, but if City are looking to bring in Cornick this month, then it would suggest that Nigel Pearson doesn’t have the confidence in Martin to fill the void left by Semenyo.

It seems Conway, Nahki Wells, and Sam Bell are all players preferred over Martin, and Cornick’s potential arrival would see the 34-year-old even further down the pecking order.
