Yuri Ribeiro has seemingly bid farewell to Nottingham Forest after sending a heartfelt message to fans on social media.
Ribeiro is one of seven players out of contract at the City Ground in the summer, as Chris Hughton looks to reshape his squad after a disappointing season.
The left-back has made 25 appearances in the Championship this season, battling it out with Tyler Blackett and Gaetan Bong for a place in the side.
Having been unable to make a real impact under Hughton this season, it seems as if the club have decided to part ways with Ribeiro.
Here, we take a look at one winner and one loser if Ribeiro leaves the City Ground…
Winner: Tyler Blackett
Ribeiro’s departure could open the door for Blackett to make a real impression in pre-season.
Blackett made 14 appearances in the Championship this season, making nine starts in the league and impressing towards the end of the campaign.
A hectic schedule meant that squad rotation came into play in the final games of the season, meaning that Ribeiro came back into the team.
But the latter’s exit would mean that there would be one less player to worry about in that position.
Loser: Yuri Ribeiro
The obvious loser here would be Ribeiro.
Ribeiro was a standout performer for Forest under Sabri Lamouchi last season, making 27 appearances and impressing towards the end of last term.
This season, he has been unable to replicate that form and those level of performances, leading to an uncertain future.
He’s only 24 and still has potential, but he was given a great opportunity when Forest approached him as he looked to thrive in England.
But a return to Portugal could now be on the cards for the defender, and his time in England looks to be over for good.
