Former Liverpool centre-back Jamie Carragher would love to see the Reds sign Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Ex-Manchester United full-back Gary Neville asked the Scouser on the Sky Sports Football Podcast which player from the Premier League would he like to see Liverpool sign.

Carragher named De Bruyne because he believes that the midfielder is "one of the best players in the world".

It is important to note that Liverpool have not genuinely been linked with a move for the 30-year-old.

As quoted by HITC, Carragher said the following: “Kevin De Bruyne (is the Premier League player he would like to see Liverpool sign). I think he’s one of the best players in the world.

"I think in the past two or three years he’s certainly been the best midfield player in the world.

"People say Liverpool lack creativity in midfield, and I think that’s a bit harsh because I think Liverpool get their creativity from different areas and with the way the team is set-up.

“The midfield three do a lot of work for the front-three and the full-backs.

"So they have a job to do and they do it well, but I just think De Bruyne is sensational in that right channel, maybe he’d get in the way of Trent, I don’t know, but De Bruyne is the first one that springs to mind.”

Anfield Watch Verdict

De Bruyne is a brilliant footballer. The midfielder has scored 74 goals and registered 111 assists in 287 appearances for Manchester City's first-team.

De Bruyne has also been averaging a WhoScored player rating of 7.32 in the Premier League this season.

Therefore, we would also love to see Liverpool sign the 30-year-old. But, we are realistic.

De Bruyne is challenging for every trophy at Manchester City, so he has no reason to leave the club anytime soon.
