Manchester City will not be sending their newest midfield signing out on loan to Spain this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Hugo Viana and recruitment chiefs at the Etihad Stadium have been hard at work getting the squad in shape for the new season, with a quartet of signings brought into the squad in time for the start of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Rayan Ait-Nouri, Rayan Cherki, and Tijjani Reijnders have been welcomed into the squad for an initial spend of around £107 million, while Marcus Bettinelli was drafted in as the direct replacement for third-choice goalkeeper Scott Carson.
Alongside the immediate strengthening of the squad, Manchester City have also been hard at work preparing talents for the next phase of the Etihad Stadium first-team, identifying and sealing a deal for one of Norway’s most exciting prospects.
That concerns Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan, who was the subject of intense interest from Premier League rivals Arsenal and Aston Villa earlier in the year, having visited all clubs for talks over their respective development plans for him.
It is now widely understood that Manchester City have reached an agreement with Rosenborg to sign Nypan for a fee of £12.5 million with no further contingencies or sell-on clauses, and a proposed contract until 2030 placed on the table for the player.
According to the information of transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano, City’s newest arrival will also not be heading out on loan to fellow City Football Group club Girona next season, despite the plan for a temporary switch for the Norwegian teenager.
“This is a massive one because lets say Man City believe this could be the European [Franco] Mastantuono, in the sense of a top talent available on the market at a good price in this case, a player they really like and wanted since January,” Romano said of the club’s latest business.
“I remember in January many people attacked me because I said City were in the race and people said he was not going to City. No guys, he’s going to City! And you can see he’s going to City,” the Italian reporter continued.
“Nypan is going to Manchester City. He will go on loan immediately. My understanding, and one more detail I can give tonight, is that he’s not going to Girona.”
Manchester City have also moved swiftly to secure the signings of two young and exciting strikers from France and England, as 18-year-old Mahamadou Sangaré leaves PSG to sign his first professional contract at the Etihad Stadium, and a five-year deal taking effect from July 1.
Closer to home and City have also agreed a deal to sign 15-year-old Sheffield Wednesday striker, Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri worth around £1.5 million, with the remaining details of the switch to be completed later this month.
