One Barcelona star replaced by another with international call-up | OneFootball

One member of the first-team ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Tuesday been replaced by another, in the respective players’ national team setup.

This comes, for those who may have missed it, after Fermín López was this morning sent back to base in Catalunya’s capital by the Spanish U21 national team medical staff.

As much came owing to what is described as ‘a muscle injury that makes it impossible for him to play in the two matches the national team will play this September’.

Santi Denia and his staff, in turn, were left with a decision to make regarding Fermín’s replacement in the nation’s squad.

And, as alluded to above, La Roja in the end opted for one of Fermín’s club teammates, at Barcelona.

On the back of an impressive pre-season showing under the watch of Hansi Flick, Pablo Torre has been called up for Spain U21s’ upcoming meetings with Scotland and Hungary.

‘Pablo Torre will join the Spanish under-21 team in the next few hours. The player from Cantabria replaces Fermín López in the squad,’ it was announced.
