Fabrizio Romano claims Andre Onana has an agreement to join Inter Milan, but the Arsenal-linked goalkeeper has himself rubbished the claims.

Writing on Twitter, Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Andre Onana has a verbal agreement with Inter Milan to join as a free agent.

Onana had been heavily linked with Arsenal and Lyon over the summer as well, but the player himself seems keen to deny all the rumours.

“I’ve wanted to talk about that for some time: I was in Salou [for individual training],” Onana said (via Sport Witness).

“There was an article about me every day. Then it was Arsenal, then it was Lyon, pfff… I was tired of it, the media thinks it should inform me about my own life, come on.

“Do I have an agreement with another club? I still have a contract with Ajax. It’s rubbish.”

As well as Romano, La Gazzetta dello Sport also recently reported that Andre Onana has agreed to join Inter Milan.

Calciomercato claimed in September that the Serie A club had already reached an agreement with Onana to sign him on a free transfer.

But it seems Onana is maintaining the stance that he has no agreement to leave just yet.

Onana’s contract with Ajax expires in the summer, which is seemingly what made him so appealing to Arsenal in the first place.

Things may well have changed now, though, with Aaron Ramsdale proving such a success so far.

In September, Onana told reporters that he didn’t have any agreement to join a new club, and that he had as many as 15 suitors to sign him next summer.

He even suggested it was possible he extends his deal with Ajax.

Onana has just finished serving a suspension after the banned substance, Furosemide, was found in his urine sample. He claimed he took it by accident after it was prescribed to his wife.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled no significant fault could be attributed to Onana, reducing the ban from 12 months to nine as a result. He’s available again now.

The 25-year-old has had an excellent record in goal for Ajax. He kept nine clean sheets in 20 Eredivisie matches before his ban last season, with an 80% save percentage.
