Inter goalkeeper Andre Onana has been named as Inter’s best performer in the Nerazzurri’s backs-to-the-wall draw away to Porto yesterday to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the Champions League.

The Cameroonian received a score of 8/10 in the player ratings for the match published in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who also brand striker Lautaro Martinez to be the major disappointment on the night.

Onana was called into action from virtually the first moments of yesterday’s match, with the 26-year-old establishing his authoritative presence in the penalty area to punch away some crosses.

The former Ajax keeper was also at the heart of things in the dying moments of the match, as he made an absolutely vital save late in stoppage time to preserve the clean sheet and with it Inter’s place in the next round of Europe’s top club competition.

In between, Onana was pitch-perfect as he marshalled the defense in front of him and made important saves when necessary.

For the Gazzetta, the 26-year-old was all but perfect, and the Nerazzurri’s most important player on the night.

At the other end of the pitch, however, Martinez came in for criticism after he had little impact on the game, finding himself unable to produce anything that would trouble Porto centre-backs Ivan Marcano and Fabio Cardoso.

The Argentine received a score of just 5/10 for his performance from the Gazzetta.
