Cameroon’s preparations for Monday’s World Cup Group G clash with Serbia were rocked by goalkeeper André Onana reportedly leaving the squad following a disagreement with coach Rigobert Song.

Onana was not part of the squad to face Serbia, with Devis Epassy taking the Inter goalkeeper’s place between the sticks.

According to The Athletic, Onana had a discussion with Song over the weekend, with the coach wanting the goalkeeper to play more direct and not take risks near his own goal.

As a result of the conversation, it was reportedly decided that Onana would not even be on the bench to face Serbia, and now the 26-year-old is understood to have left the camp and returned home.

Onana played as Cameroon were beaten 1-0 by Switzerland in their first group fixture, and another defeat to Serbia would see them eliminated from the World Cup with a match to spare.
