We’re surprised this long-range effort didn’t tear the net off!

One year ago today, Newcastle had a lot to celebrate as they walked away 2-0 winners at home largely in part to this sensational hit from Fabian Schär, who fizzed in his shot from 30 yards out that clipped the inside of the post, leaving goalkeeper Tom Heaton in a heap.

The top-bins effort was good enough for the Switzerland international to be awarded Premier League Goal of the Month for February 2019.

If that wasn’t good enough, just 14 minutes later Sean Longstaff scored his very first Newcastle goal, slamming the ball into the bottom corner to give the Magpies a comfortable advantage.

Coincidentally, Newcastle host Burnley this weekend. Perhaps Schär can come up with another piece of top-bins magic this time around?
