On-loan Barcelona star Clément Lenglet is expected to spend the next month on the sidelines, with an injury.
That’s according to Marca, who have on Monday provided an insight into the situation.
Lenglet, for his part, featured from the off on Sunday, as Atlético recovered from a goal down to ultimately put Leganés to the sword by three goals to one.
A fine performance on the part of the Frenchman, however, was cut short shortly after the hour mark.
After being landed on awkwardly by teammate Axel Witsel, Lenglet was left grounded and in evident pain.
The 29-year-old, in turn, was quickly hauled off, before making his way straight down the tunnel at the Wanda Metropolitano, accompanied by the hosts’ medical staff.
Initially, fears spread that Lenglet may have suffered a serious knee injury, which would keep him away from the pitch for the bulk of the season.
This, however, has not proven to be the case.
Instead, as per a report from Marca:
‘Lenglet will not be available for the next few weeks, specifically approximately one month, much less than initially expected, due to a severe sprain in his left knee.’
