Middlesbrough striker Josh Coburn is enjoying himself on loan at Bristol Rovers.

The 20-year-old moved to the League One club on September deadline day and has been in hot form since – scoring nine times and providing three assists in 23 appearances so far.

Coburn has combined well with Rovers frontman Aaron Collins, who has 14 goals and 11 assists himself, but their partnership is set to come to the end once the 2022/23 campaign is wrapped up.

The Boro loanee is in line to return to the Riverside when his loan spell at the Memorial Stadium ends and will be keen to prove himself to head coach Michael Carrick over the summer.

Coburn was loaned out before Carrick’s appointment so pre-season will be the pair’s first chance to work together.

FLW’s Bristol Rovers fan pundit Steve Hutson has told the Boro boss and the Riverside faithful what they can expect in the future.

He said: “Josh Coburn has been on fire since he joined us – goals and assists. I think he looks like he’s going to have a good future. He’s a handful for defenders.

“I think he’d certainly got a lot more goals and assists had it not been for defenders holding on to him all the time and him being pulled down.

“The referee doesn’t always side in his favour either. That’s cost us on at least one occasion that I can remember when he’s been fouled and in that same move they’ve gone down the other end and scored.

“I think he’s got a bright future and has certainly been on form for us this season.”
