Omar Mascarell’s confidence knows no bounds after he completed a decent season with Eintracht Frankfurt.

He started to accumulate consistent playing time under incoming Bayern Munich manager Niko Kovač, and his former club took notice. He joined the Real Madrid academy at 17 and was sold to Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016 for a nominal fee after making just one La Liga appearance in 2013 on the final matchday. Mascarell also had loans spells at Derby County and Sporting Gijón.

According to Mascarell and numerous reports, Real Madrid have triggered their buy-back clause for a fee of around €4m.

“The buy-back option is going to be exercised, but I do not know what will happen to my future,” he said in an interview with EFW.

“I think Real Madrid want me to complete pre-season with them. I think they are interested in keeping me, but I would like to continue growing and gaining experience, so my thinking is to stay in Germany if I have to leave Real Madrid.”

“I only have words of thanks to Real Madrid because during my stay in Valdebebas they improved me both from a football standpoint and a mental one,” he said.

“They made me mature beyond my years and they taught me to always win.”
