Against a Troyes team that came to defend at the Orange Velodrome, the Olympiens struggled to score but they succeeded thanks to Lirola in the second half.

ROTATION CONTINUES

Payet and Rongier, who were suspended against Galatasaray, returned to Jorge Sampaoli's starting line-up against ESTAC at the Orange Velodrome. There were four changes in Marseille's starting line-up against Troyes compared to the one fielded in Turkey. Alvaro, Payet, Rongier and de la Fuente started in place of Caleta-Car, Kamara, Gerson and Dieng.

FIRST HALF

Is it the cold? The closed-door atmosphere? The first half between OM and Troyes was complicated for both teams who had difficulty in creating dangerous and clear chances. The first chance for OM was the clearest: a free kick from Payet that went close to the Troyes post (4'). The Frenchman then had another opportunity from a set-piece but the ball went over. In the last quarter of an hour, the Frenchman had another chance to score from a set piece. In the last quarter of an hour, OM deprived their opponents of the ball but this domination did not lead to any shots on target.

OM GETS STUCK

OM entered the game much better, keeping the ball in their own half. The various free kicks and corners they got did not alert Gallon. Milik was the first to do so in the second half. He went to the back of the defence and found himself in front of the Troyes goalkeeper, who turned away the Pole's shot. He did it again when Payet's cross was headed in by the Olympien number 9, but again found the ESTAC keeper in his path.

…BEFORE SCORING

Troyes had just had a few minutes of good time with one or two opportunities, including a low shot that was easily caught by Lopez when Payet threw Lirola deep into the box and the last Troyes defender covered him. Point of speed, ball control and finishing. The Spaniard, in one action, demonstrated his many qualities for the opening goal (74') under the eyes of Frank McCourt, present at the Orange Velodrome alongside Pablo Longoria.

OM GOES FOURTH

Thanks to the three points of success against ESTAC, OM are repositioning themselves in the standings. Jorge Sampaoli's men, with one game less (OL-OM), move to fourth position (26 points) tied with Nice (3rd) and only two points behind second, Stade Rennais.

On Wednesday, the Marseillais will be heading on a trip to Nantes (10th).
