According to La Provence Marseille are targeting Manchester City right-back and Burkina Faso international Issa Kaboré (21) who was on loan at ESTAC Troyes last season.  L’Équipe report that OM are working on an optional loan-to-buy deal for the defender, with Nice and Nottingham Forest also interested in the defender.

A deal could reportedly be finalised for the defender as early as this weekend. However, it is not known whether the player could arrive on a permanent transfer or another loan deal.

Last season Kaboré played for ESTAC Troyes in Ligue 1 on loan from the Premier League side, who bought the player back in 2020 from Belgian side KV Mechelen. In France’s top tier, the defender made 32 appearances for Troyes, starting the majority of last season as his side finished 15th and secured another season in Ligue 1.

Kaboré is also a full international wit Burkina Faso, having earned 27 caps and scored two goals for his national side.

Marseille are expecting the departure of Spanish defender Pol Lirola for Italian side Elche, and are hoping to sign Kaboré as his replacement in what has been an active transfer window for the Olympiens. This week saw the confirmation of the signing of Alexis Sánchez who joins the club on a potential 2-year deal and was greeted earlier this week by a large crowd of OM faithful to welcome the Chilean – who will wear the no.70 shirt for OM.
