It should come as no surprise that doing well at the Olympics helps you climb the FIFA World Rankings when it comes to the women’s game.
And it has done exactly that for gold medal winners Canada, who go from eighth to sixth, and runners-up Sweden, who rise from fifth to second.
Spain have entered the top 10 for the first time and South Korea have re-entered after dropping out when the latest rankings were published in June.
England drop from sixth to eighth and the USA remain top of the charts.
