Oliver Skipp delivers Norwich City message as Tottenham return looms | OneFootball

Norwich City midfielder Oliver Skipp has taken to his personal Instagram account to issue a message to the club following the end of his loan spell at Carrow Road.

Skipp was a revelation for the Canaries this term during his loan spell from Tottenham Hotspur and he was a key part of helping them secure 97 points in the Championship and clinch the title. The midfielder managed to make 45 appearances for Daniel Farke’s side, but he missed the last game of the season after he suffered a fractured metatarsal in the 4-1 win against Reading.

The midfielder will now return to Tottenham where it is believed by Football Insider he could the chance to make an impression next term. Norwich are unsurprisingly believed to be keen to try and re-sign him if they get the chance to do so in the forthcoming transfer window. However, he has now undergone surgery on his injury so it could depend on how he recovers.

The 20-year-old took to his personal Instagram account, after Norwich lifted the title, to issue a message to supporters and also thank his team-mates and coaching staff at Carrow Road. That demonstrates just how much he has valued his time with the Canaries and how they have managed to develop his game over the course of the campaign.

The verdict

This message from Skipp shows he has clearly loved his time with the club and Norwich has been the perfect place for his development this season. It is always a little bit of a risk when you bring loan players into a club. However, last summer it seemed like a very smart addition for the Canaries to have made, and so it has proven to be and he has maybe even done better than would have been anticipated.

Norwich should do all they can to re-sign him in the summer, and they might be able to use the uncertainty over Tottenham’s managerial situation to their advantage. Getting the chance to play week in week out for the Canaries in the top-flight next term must surely be an appealing alternative for the 20-year-old to consider.

However, it seems that Tottenham might be wanting to take a closer look at the midfielder before deciding either way over his potential future next term. You can fully understand them doing that and given how well he has played with Norwich in the Championship, he could already have the quality needed to feature for them if he recovers well from his injury setback.
