Crystal Palace will enter Saturday’s clash with Ipswich Town on the back of three consecutive victories in all competitions.

The Eagles knocked Millwall out of the FA Cup after beating the Championship outfit 3-1 at Selhurst Park last weekend.

But Palace’s victory came at a cost for them as in-form striker Jean-Philippe Mateta was left with a gaping hole in his ear after a terribly high challenge from goalkeeper Liam Roberts.

Mateta has been discharged from hospital but he will sit out the game against Ipswich.

Oliver Glasner’s side will also be missing Chadi Riad, Cheick Doucoure and Joel Ward due to fitness issues, while Will Hughes will be serving his suspension after his 10th booking of the season.

Glasner started Matt Turner between the sticks against Millwall, but Dean Henderson is poised to return in goal for Saturday’s home clash.

In front of the goalkeeper, the same backline of Marc Guehi, Maxence Lacroix and Chris Richards is expected to remain intact.

However, changes are likely in midfield with Hughes suspended for the game. Adam Wharton, who impressed in Palace’s 4-1 win over Aston Villa last month, will take the 29-year-old’s place to partner Jefferson Lerma in central midfield.

Ben Chilwell, who has been described as “exceptional” by Brendan Rodgers, should drop to the bench, allowing Tyrick Mitchell to start at left wing-back. But we believe Daniel Munoz will keep his spot on the opposite flank.

In the absence of Mateta, Eddie Nketiah will spearhead the Eagles’ attack and he will be joined by Eberechi Eze and Ismaila Sarr in attack.
