Speaking ahead of Germany’s UEFA Nations League games against Hungary and England, Oliver Bierhoff, managing director of the national teams and academies, discussed the DFB’s new Campus which caters for all teams and their first training session at the new facilities.

“The Campus should be the home of all German football, as well as teams that don’t normally get such training opportunities,” said Bierhoff. “We gave ourselves the target of allowing every team, where possible, the chance to set up their quarters here. It’s logically easier and there’s always a good amount of space available. There are 33 rooms here, which is always enough for a team.”

Discussing Germany’s first training session at the training facilities, Bierhoff added: “I was able to look out onto the pitch and watch the training session from a meeting, which was a wonderful thing for me and everyone who works here.

“The women’s team were here, the men’s team are there at the moment and the picture that we had envisioned is now becoming a reality. We are pleased that we’re coming together as a team after the summer break.

“It’s a special program because we want to finish the Nations League successfully, and it is the last international break before the World Cup squad is decided. I know that the coaching staff work intensively and meticulously, and have plenty of discussions.”
