Kicker report that Hoffenheim’s Oliver Baumann is a potential candidate for Bayern Munich. This comes with Yann Sommer’s future still uncertain as the Swiss goalkeeper wants first team football ahead of Euro 2024 but won’t displace Manuel Neuer, who has suffered a minor setback in his comeback.
Baumann, who has 12 months remaining on his current deal, was a candidate for Bayern Munich before they even signed Sommer from Borussia Mönchengladbach in January. With Inter pushing to sign Sommer as a replacement for André Onana, who is bound for Manchester United, Bayern Munich are expected to sign a replacement this summer to provide competition for Neuer, with Alexander Nübel also expected to leave the club following his return from Monaco.
But Bayern Munich aren’t the only team interested in Baumann. Nice and Sevilla have both enquired about the German stopper, but are yet to following up with any concrete discussions. There’s also a chance that Baumann (33), who has played 330 games for Hoffenheim, could extend his contract beyond 2024.
