Michael Olise is finally getting down to business at Bayern and was officially unveiled at a press conference with board member for sport Max Eberl on Thursday. “I immediately felt welcome,” the 22-year-old told the media. The Frenchman arrived in Munich at the start of the week, first completing his diagnostic tests before joining team training on Wednesday.

His inclusion in France’s squad at the Paris Olympics meant he had to wait before properly starting out at his new club. However, Eberl stressed that that isn’t actually a disadvantage: “The good thing is he’s fully fit and arrives on the back of success, even if he didn’t end up with gold at the Olympics. Now it’s about getting to know his teammates and coach.”
Max Eberl congratulated Olise on Olympic silver with a cake.
The new signing from Crystal Palace made clear what he wants to focus on immediately at Bayern: “I’m not looking at headlines. I’m here to do my job.” That means performing and following in the footsteps of one of his legendary French predecessors in Munich. “I really like Franck Ribery. When I think of French players at Bayern, I think of him,” the forward stated.

Olise gave fans a taste of what they can expect from him with his displays at the Olympics. His excellent contribution of two goals and five assists was crucial in France reaching the final and winning silver. “He just showed at the Olympics what quality he has. He’s an incredibly creative player with a very good left foot who gives us a lot of variability, capable of playing in the centre or on the wings. We’ll have a lot of joy with him,” Eberl claimed of Olise.
