MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Central American Cup continues with CD Olimpia hosting CSD Xelajú MC in Group D on Wednesday at Estadio José de la Paz Herrera Uclés in Tegucigalpa, Honduras.

This will be the second-ever meeting between Olimpia and Xelajú in Central American Cup action, and overall fourth in their history. Olimpia holds the upper hand with two wins and one draw in the series.

Olimpia enters the match unbeaten with two wins and a draw. Los Leones earned a point in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against CD Águila last week. Jerry Bengston and Jorge Berguché were on target for Olimpia on the night.

The Honduran side is second in Group D with seven points and needs only a draw to qualify for the Quarterfinals. Olimpia is currently unbeaten in its last fixtures (W2, D2), equaling its longest unbeaten streak in the competition (4-0-0).

Xelajú leads Group D with nine points and has already secured its place in the Quarterfinals after winning its first three encounters. The Guatemalan club first defeated Hércules 2-nil, followed by a 3-nil win against Águila and a 4-1 triumph over Real Estelí.

Pedro Báez is the team’s top scorer with three goals, while Jesús López leads in assists with two. The Chivos have also stood out defensively, having only conceded once so far.

Historic series

This will be the second-ever meeting between Olimpia and Xelajú MC in the history of the Concacaf Central American Cup. Their only previous encounter came on August 29, 2023, in Group B Matchday 5, where the “Albos” secured a 2-0 victory at Estadio Nacional Chelato Uclés in Tegucigalpa. The goals were scored by José Mario Pinto and Yustin Arboleda.

In total, the two clubs have faced each other three times, with Olimpia holding the upper hand with two wins and one draw. In addition to the Central American Cup clash, they met twice in the 1981 edition of the Copa Fraternidad Centroamericana, where Olimpia won 1-0 in one match and drew 1-1 in the other.
