Oli McBurnie will be sidelined for “weeks”

Sheffield United has confirmed that striker Oli McBurnie will be sidelined due to a groin injury he sustained earlier in the month. McBurnie, who has been a significant presence for the Blades since their return to the Premier League, played in six league matches and contributed two goals.
During the 2022-23 season, Oli McBurnie featured in 38 games, with 25 of those as a starter, and played a crucial role in Sheffield United’s promotion from the Championship, scoring 13 goals.
“He’s damaged his groin. It will be weeks and he will not be available for the [next] weekend,” Paul Heckingbottom revealed on SUTV.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom, who is under pressure following their 5-0 loss to Arsenal, provided an update on McBurnie’s fitness. The striker sustained the groin injury during the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United, where he scored the Blades’ equaliser from the penalty spot in the 34th minute.
As a result, Sheffield United will be without the Scottish international’s services for their upcoming match against Wolverhampton Wanderers, a crucial game in their battle to avoid a bottom-three finish.
In the last two matches McBurnie has been unavailable for United they have lost both games via an aggregate scoreline of 13-0, which proves his effectiveness and key role for Heckingbottom’s team.
