Olga Carmona has been named as one of three candidates for the 2022/23 UEFA Women's Player of the Year award. The winner of the prize, for which Aitana Bonmatí and Australian forward Sam Kerr are also in the running, will be announced in Monaco on 31 August.
The Real Madrid player has been nominated after being crowned world champion with Spain at the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, where she struck the winning goal and was voted MVP of the final. The award is chosen by the votes of a jury composed of the coaches of the teams that participated in the Women's Champions League group stage, the coaches of the women's national teams of the UEFA member associations and a selection of journalists chosen by European Sports Media (ESM).
