Oleksandr Zinchenko was at his brilliant best once again to help Arsenal defeat Manchester United 3-2.

The Ukraine international was arguably the best player on the park, with the visitors unable to deal with his ability to effortlessly drop into midfield and cause overloads.

Zinchenko’s calmness under pressure on the ball also aided Arsenal in their quest to move five points clear of Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table – with a game in hand as well.

The 26-year-old was heavily involved in Eddie Nkeitah’s 90th minute winner and his passionate celebrations after VAR awarded the goal were quite something.

It really is no wonder that Zinchenko is already a firm fan favourite at the Emirates Stadium.

On top of being an outrageously-gifted footballer, the former City man has helped instil a winning mentality at Arsenal in his short time at the club.

He made that fact even clearer in an interview with Premier League Productions following Arsenal’s potentially season-defining victory over United.

Needless to say, the footage has gone down rather well with Gooners…

The little moment with Arsenal legend Ian Wright towards the end of the video clip really is the icing on the cake if you’re a fan of the north London outfit.

“I’m just so glad you’re at our club,” Wrighty said, with Zinchenko simply replying with a wide smile on his face: “Thank you so much.”

What else did Zinchenko say in the interview?

“Yes, thank you so much. Incredible game, incredible atmosphere,” Zinchenko said. “That’s why we love the Premier League, you know? I said to the lads before the game that ‘guys, when everyone is gonna retire, we’re gonna regret that we didn’t enjoy enough’.

On the performance itself, Zinchenko quipped: “Honestly, everyone realises that we have a lot of games ahead of us and we just go step by step. I think the mentality, the spirit is right. That’s the key, you know? That’s where we need to go and we need to move. There’s always space to improve but still I think we’re on the right way.”

When questioned about the togetherness at Arsenal, Zinchenko responded in a manner which typifies his attitude towards the sport.

“To be honest, when I had just arrived, the quality I saw,” he said. “Obviously, I knew the Arsenal team, I knew all of them before but still, I realised we have everything to achieve the big things and I started to speak in the dressing room: ‘Guys, forget top three or whatever, we need to think about the title’.

“Some of them was laughing but no one’s laughing now and all of us is dreaming. But still, like I said, there’s a lot of games to play and now you can see United is back, City, as always, is there. Let’s see what is going to happen but let’s move step by step.

“With this atmosphere, with our fans behind us, everyone knows what we need to do on the pitch. It’s about desire and stuff. In modern football now, with two top teams playing each other, everyone is fast, everyone has technique and stuff like this.

“Everyone knows what they need to do on the pitch but it’s something a bit more, a bit desire, it’s to be in front of your opponent, it’s about reading the game quicker than your opponent. Win your duels and stuff like this. That’s the key.”

The final part of the interview saw Zinchenko asked if Arsenal can go on and win the Premier League, to which he added: “Everyone is dreaming about this but honestly, we don’t look far. We don’t look at other teams as well. We need to be focused on our game. Like I said already, there are plenty of things to improve but we are on the right way, I think.

“The atmosphere in the dressing room, around the team, at training ground, everybody is working so hard. Apart from the players, the staff… you arrive in the morning at the training ground and you can come back at 5pm and still half of the staff will be there working hard. That’s the way, unbelievable and perfect. That’s the key. That’s my opinion.”

Everything seems to be clicking into place for Arsenal, doesn’t it? There hasn’t been this level of positivity surrounding the club since the halcyon days of Arsene Wenger.
