Oleksandr Zinchenko is set to stay at Manchester City after reportedly rejecting a deadline day move to Wolves.
Zinchenko was expected to undergo a medical at the West Midlands club’s Compton Park training ground on Thursday ahead of a £16m move.
But according to Wolverhampton based journalist Tim Nash, the Ukrainian midfielder has turned down the chance to move to Molineux and will instead stay and fight for his place at the Etihad Stadium.
The 21-year-old made just 14 appearances in all competitions for City last season and was used most often as a makeshift left-back, but he is a popular figure in the dressing room and Pep Guardiola is understood to be happy for him to stay.
The Premier League champions inability to sign a new central midfielder this summer means Zinchenko may be afforded more opportunities in the coming season.
