In 1999, with Manchester United up 4-1 on Premier League foes Nottingham Forest, Sir Alex Ferguson brought on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for Dwight Yorke â who was not happy as he was on a hat-trick.
Despite coming on in the 72nd minute, Solskjaer had plenty of time to make his mark and nearly went full Robert Lewandowski.
Solskjaer would score in the 80th and 88th minutes and then added two stoppage-time goals for good measure to give United a famous 8-1 victory on the anniversary of the Munich air disaster.
Of course, the assistant coach told Solskjaer to be conservative and pass the ball around.
After the match, Forest fans were incensed by manager Ron Atkinson after he told reporters that his side had given fans a ânine-goal thrillerâ.
Atkinson would resign from the club and retired from football management altogether at the end of the season.
Manchester United would go on to win the Premier League title, beating Arsenal by a single point, while Forest would be relegated.
They havenât returned to the Premier League since.
