Ole Gunnar Solskjaer receives support from rival manager over fixture schedule complaints

Jurgen Klopp supports Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after fixture schedule rant

As reported by the MEN, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has backed Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the latter hit out at the Premier League’s fixture scheduling.

Speaking after Manchester United’s 3-1 win against Everton, the manager lashed out at the manner in which the fixtures had been scheduled, calling it an absolute shambles. (h/t MEN)

And now, the Norwegian has received support from our rival boss Jurgen Klopp, who has claimed that scheduling games without proper rest in between puts the players at risk. (h/t MEN)

“We want to play football, it is great but Wednesday night and 12.30 pm should not be allowed. Ole was right. The only problem is we injured the players. It is not about us. It is about the players.”

Following our game against Everton Ole revealed that three of our players – Marcus Rashford, Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof had succumbed to injuries.

On Sunday, Liverpool, too, seemed to have lost Trent Alexander-Arnold to an injury during their game against Manchester City. (h/t MEN)

“Tonight we lost Trent [Alexander-Arnold], I am pretty sure. If we continue like this hopefully we can play the Euros next summer, let’s see which players can be part of that.”

The suspect scheduling, coupled with the removal of the five-substitution rule, does put players at a risk. The scrapping of the latter has drawn a lot of ire from a number of Premier League managers including Klopp and Pep Guardiola. (h/t Sky Sports)
