Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has three games to save Manchester United job
As editor of Stretty News and someone with the utmost respect for the manager, I take no joy in speculating over Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s future as it seems unlikely that he will turn things around by taking Manchester United where we need to be.
He is a legend after all – someone likeminded Reds will always have the utmost respect for.
Nobody predicted that United would finish in second place last season, but now we want to see the team push on and mount a proper title challenge. We look a million miles away from doing that despite signing Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.
Something has to change.
The 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool on Sunday was a bitter pill to swallow. It will take some time to get over, but as a fan I’m already looking to Saturday evening’s game against Tottenham with the belief it is our duty to get behind the manager and team through thick and thin.
However, Jason Burt from The Telegraph has the latest on the manager’s current situation and it doesn’t sound good for Solskjaer, who has reportedly been given three games to save his job at Old Trafford.
It may even come as a relief to the Norwegian given how United lost 5-0 to our arch-rivals at the weekend. Everyone walking out of the ground knew a comeback was becoming impossible.
Ultimately, I think it says everything you need to know about Richard Arnold that he’s had to drag Ferguson and Edwards in to dig them out.
I spoke to a lot of United fans outside the ground and nobody had any belief in Solskjaer, that he was going to cut it.
The board clearly isn’t set on a solution but they ought to get to work if our bad run continues.
It is worth noting that after the next three matches, we head into another international break.
