Speaking ahead of his side’s Premier League match against Leicester City on Tuesday afternoon, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has given an update on the current injury status of club captain Harry Maguire.

Despite putting in another excellent display against Aston Villa last Sunday, Maguire’s afternoon was tainted after he hobbled off in the second half through injury.

Spotted leaving Villa Park with a foot brace on, there have been concerns over whether or not Maguire will be okay to face Villarreal in the Europa League final, later this month.

However, good news may be on the horizon for United fans after Solskjaer confirmed that his commanding skipper had not suffered any kind of fracture.

Speaking to the club’s in-house media team prior to kick-off against Leicester City, Solskjaer said: “He’s obviously had the scans and the good news is there is no fracture.

“[There’s] Ligament damage but hopefully we will see him again this season. Hopefully, he’ll be ready for the final.”

The Red Devils have four domestic matches left to play, including Tuesday’s match against the Foxes, before they are set to travel to Gdansk, Poland, to compete for a chance to lift their first piece of silverware since 2017.
