Ole Gunnar Solskjær was recently unveiled as the new manager for Beşiktaş. He now wants to sign Southampton's Paul Onuachu as his first transfer.
Paul Onuachu was recently involved in Premier League action for Southampton, albeit only from the bench. For the Nigerian forward, it wasn't to be yet again as Southampton dropped a one-goal lead against Manchester United in midweek.
It is an unfortunate tale of Tall Paul's time in Southampton so far. He has not hit the ground running and instead, he's looked far more impressive while on loan. Therefore, it's no surprise that he's still receiving interest from Turkey.
According to a new report by Turkish outlet Sabah, Beşiktaş would like to bring in a new centre forward in the January transfer window. At the top of their list is Paul Onuachu, after they struggled to sign Sandro Kulenovic. Now, Beşiktaş are seriously considering Onuachu.
Onuachu is familiar with the Turkish top flight. He has played in Turkey with Trabzonspor, scoring goals for fun which raised the excitement levels for his Southampton return. In fact, he even became nominated for the Puskas award for best goal while he was in Turkey.
However, it is fair to say that nothing has gone Onuachu's way since he returned to Southampton. He has mainly been a passenger, unable to steer his own journey in Saints colours.
The consensus is that it would be best for all parties involved for Onuachu to secure a move away, preferably (for his own sake), in this transfer window. After all, he will hardly be given opportunities before the end of the season, when the Saints will likely be relegated anyway.
So, Ole Gunnar Solskjær could secure his first Beşiktaş transfer and it might just come back to haunt Southampton in the future.
