Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has taken to Instagram to express his delight at the win against Manchester City, with his City Ground teammate Ola Aina among those to praise him.
Forest took a massive step towards an unlikely UEFA Champions League spot with a 1-0 win against defending English champions Manchester City at the City Ground on Saturday.
Hudson-Odoi scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute.
The £5 million (The Athletic) winger picked up a superb pass from Morgan Gibbs-White and then beat Man City goalkeeper Ederson at his near post.
It was the 24-year-old former Chelsea winger’s fifth goal in the Premier League this season. He has also given two assists.
Forest are now third in the Premier League table with 51 points from 28 matches.
Nuno’s side are only three points behind second-placed Arsenal, who have played 27 games, and are four points ahead of fourth-placed Man City, who have been linked with Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga.
Hudson-Odoi has revelled in the win on Instagram and has posted: “WE ARE NOT HERE TO JOKE!😤 GOAL,MOTM, 3 POINTS!! Enjoy your weekend 🌳❤️”
Forest full-back Aina, who was also once at Chelsea, has responded to Hudson-Odoi’s message by writing: “Star boy 🔥”
Anthony Elanga noted: “Ma boy man !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ghanaaaaaa”
Neco Williams posted: “What a player.”
Forest have done well this season and have been remarkably consistent.
While there have hiccups along the way, Nuno’s side have always bounced back and stayed on course.
Of course, there are still plenty of matches and Forest cannot get complacent, but just seven defeats in the Premier League so far this season indicate that they are here to stay.
Forest will be confident of winning their Premier League matches against Ipswich Town, Manchester United, Everton, Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City between now and the end of the season.
