OL Reign and Olympique Lyonnais are teaming up with Liga MX Femenil’s Club America in a historical international partnership.

As part of the deal, the three teams will face off in international friendlies and collaborate behind the scenes, on scouting, academies, and marketing.

“This global partnership with Club America is not only significant for our clubs, but also for our sport,” OL Reign general manager Nick Perera said.

“Together, we will be able to elevate the game by creating unique opportunities for our players, academies, and staff. We’re thrilled for this new partnership and the extensive possibilities that will stem from it.”

OL Reign and Olympique Lyonnais first established a partnership in 2020, after Lyon parent company OL Groupe acquired a controlling stake in the NWSL team. The two then developed a bond by interchanging players and facing each other in tournaments.

And now, Club America will be thrown into the mix.

The first friendly of the partnership is set to be hosted by OL Reign on February 25, welcoming Club America to their training ground at Starfire Stadium for preseason action.

“We are proud to achieve a historic alliance in women's football, in which three leading teams, from three different regions, come together to advance growth and set the course for women's football future globally,” added Club América Women Football Director, Claudia Carrion.

“We are happy to share our work and experience, which will allow us to improve our practices and processes to continue promoting Mexican football in the world.”

The deal will also include “joint communication campaigns on the values of sport, exemplarity and transmission to young people, sporting excellence and certain CSR themes.”
