Noah Okafor has admitted that he always used to choose AC Milan when he would play Pro Evolution Soccer as a child because they had the best players.

Speaking during an interview with Transfermarkt (via Milan News), Okafor revealed that the Rossoneri were his first choice as a child given they had won the Champions League seven times and had many of the best players on the game.

He also explained that he always hoped he would end up playing for a team like Milan when he got older, and he is now fresh from scoring a late winner for Milan against Lazio in Serie A.

“I used to play as Milan in Pro Evolution Soccer. They had the best players in the squad, won the Champions League seven times. How could I not admire that? My goal as a child was to reach such a high team level. Now I am there. I’m well and that’s how I’d like to stay, free of injury. About the role? I feel like a left winger but Leao is there and I have to be patient, but I also see myself well as a second striker,” Okafor said.

Okafor also talked about his first season at the club and how he managed to settle in.

“I knew what it would be like to come here. In San Siro I played as an opponent with RB Salzburg. Here everything is different, you have a big match every week, the stadium is always full. If you know how to properly fit into such an environment, you can’t wish for anything better than this. Maybe only two, three clubs I consider bigger than mine. I immediately found a warm environment and immediately got in tune with the other teammates, many of whom were also new. Leao helped me a lot to integrate,” Okafor said.

Okafor has not been a regular starter for Milan in his first season given his strongest position is on the left wing where Rafael Leao plays. He also suffered a serious injury which saw him miss a chunk of the campaign.

Despite that, Okafor is not disheartened as he did not expect to be one of the most important players in the team from the offset.

“I was aware that I would not be a first choice and that I would have to be patient to get my chance. I have to be ready, deserve this place and thus become a starter. You can make progress even in a short time. There are very experienced players here. I can learn in every training session and every match. The coach talks to me often, he knows my qualities and takes them into account. He told me to continue on this path. My day will come,” he said.
